What is amnesia?
A person with amnesia has an abnormal loss of memory, usually caused by illness, brain injury, or emotional trauma. Transient global amnesia is a non-serious form of amnesia. Loss of memory can occur with many conditions, ranging from head injury to stroke. Images

What are the symptoms of amnesia?
The memory loss may apply only to recent events, or to events that occurred in the distant past. Mild memory loss is common as a person ages.

How does the doctor treat amnesia?
Treatment for amnesia depends on underlying cause, but may include vitamin supplements and psychological counseling.
