AMI Dressler's Syndrome

Weeks to months following a heart attack, some people develop a painful chest syndrome, called Dressler's syndrome or post-myocardial infarction syndrome. It is caused by inflammation of the pericardium, which is the thin membrane that surrounds the heart. Dressler's syndrome usually causes chest pain that is worse upon breathing, and it usually resolves over time with or without treatment.
