The evaluation of amblyopia begins with a history and physical exam, as well as an eye exam. Images

Physical exam in someone with amblyopia is usually normal.

The diagnosis of amblyopia usually requires an evaluation by an ophthalmologist.

Tests are not required to make the diagnosis of amblyopia.
