Allergic Conjunctivitis Home Care
Home care for allergic conjunctivitis includes:
  • Reduce eye swelling:
    • Apply a cold compress.
    • Apply for 20-30 minutes at a time.
  • Rinse the eyes with saline eye wash:
    • Rinse 4 times a day.
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes.
  • Clean off the eyelashes:
    • Apply a warm, wet compress.
  • Take prescribed medications or eyedrops as directed.
  • Take oral antihistamines for itching:
  • Do not share towels, washcloths, or eyedrops with anyone who has an eye infection.
  • Do not use contact lenses or eye makeup until your symptoms are gone.
  • Wash your hands after touching your face.
