• Changes in the retina of the eye due to high blood pressure:
• The appearance of the healthy retina
• Diseased retina from effects of hypertension
• Swelling of the extremities

Testing is necessary to confirm the diagnosis of aldosteronism.

Tests used to evaluate aldosteronism may include:

• Serum electrolytes
• Glucose tolerance test
• Serum aldosterone level
• Fludrocortisone suppression test:
• Measures the level of aldosterone in your bloodstream after receiving a dose of the fludrocortisone.
• Nuclear scanning of the adrenal glands
• Intravenous pyelogram
• CT scanning of the abdomen
• Adrenal gland biopsy
