A person with Addison's disease has adrenal glands that do not produce hormones properly. The two main hormones made by the adrenal glands are cortisol and aldosterone. Cortisol helps regulate metabolism and aldosterone helps regulate the kidneys.

Severe Addison's disease is called Addisonian crisis.
