Common names:
A person with acute interstitial nephritis has inflammation of the cells in the kidney, which causes the kidneys to malfunction. The poorly functioning kidneys cause the body to retain water. Acute interstitial nephritis is usually caused by an allergy, toxin or medication.
About 4 out of 100,000 people in the US develop acute interstitial nephritis each year. |
