Abdominal Pain due to Endometriosis Surgery

Surgery for endometriosis may include:

  • Laparoscopy for endometriosis
    • Removing the abnormal endometrial tissue only
  • Hysterectomy for endometriosis
    • Removing the abnormal endometrial tissue and the uterus

Points to consider:
  • Laparoscopy to remove endometrial tissue is performed for women who desire a future pregnancy.
  • Complete removal of the uterus and ovaries is reserved for women who are not planning a future pregnancy.
