Skin Lesion Symptoms
Characteristics of a normal mole include:
  • Color is tan, brown, or black Images
  • Sharp borders Images
  • Round or oval shape Images
  • Less than 6 mm (1/4 inch) in diameter
  • Symmetric: one side has the same shape as the other Images
Symptoms of a skin lesion include:
  • Skin lumps that bleed or crack Images
  • Skin lumps that have an irregular border Images
  • Skin lumps that have inconsistent coloration Images
  • Skin lumps that change size or shape Images
  • Mole that changes in appearance Images
  • Moles over 6 mm in diameter
  • New skin growth that rises above the level of the skin surface Images
  • New skin lump or skin bump on the skin Images
  • One side of a skin lesion does not look like the other Images
  • Skin growth that is scaly, crusty, or oozing Images
  • Skin lesions that do not heal
  • Skin lesion or growth that has blood vessels in it Images
